With the holidays fast approaching, it may seem like a cheese plate, markers, or set of knives would be the obvious choice for the turophile on your gift list. While these tokens are nice and can be thoughtful, they tend to get a bit overdone and can be a bit obvious. Let’s face it – while these cheesy gifts are appreciated, more often than not, they end up being shoved into a drawer only to be brought out on special occasions… like next Christmas. How about giving a fromage find that will be front and center all year long… something like cheese art? Where does one find such a thing? Artist Mike Geno can help.

The “year(s) of sacrifice” is over for The Fabulous Beekman Boys! On the season finale of last night’s The Amazing Race, Josh Kilmer-Purcell and partner (now fiancé) Dr. Brent Ridge ran to the winner’s circle, much to the astonishment of pretty much everyone on set and at home watching. These two country gentlemen competed with grace and kindness even when faced with some pretty harsh treatment from other players. In the end, nice finished first with a kiss and hug, tons of applause, and a million dollar check, which is the exact amount needed to end years of living apart. Continue reading
Are You Ready For Some Llama Drama? The Fabulous Beekman Boys Premier Tonight on The Cooking Channel
As a cheese blogger, I often find my refrigerator littered with remnants of cheesy goodness. Let me explain. I am a Food Network junkie so I was pretty stoked when Throwdown with Bobby Flay was a mac and cheese battle. Delilah Winder, Oprah’s favorite mac and cheese maker, put her seven-cheese creation up against Bobby’s five-cheese carbonara. I won’t spoil it and tell who won, but I will say that the upscale recipe from Mr. Flay gave me a great idea. Why not use my remnants and make my own upscale mac and cheese? Continue reading
Last night was the season finale of The Fabulous Beekman Boys on Planet Green. For those who have not discovered this wonderful gem, the show follows a dapper NYC couple, Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Dr. Brent Ridge, as they make a “Year of Sacrifice” to transform their dairy farm into a viable business. While sensitive, easy going Josh splits his time between his marketing job in the city and weekend chores at The Beekman, Brent focuses on growing the business and rattling Farmer John’s patience with his A-type personality.
Located in Sharon Springs, NY, The Beekman Farm is home to a herd of goats (Nubian, Alpine, and Saanan), cats, and a diva llama named Polka Spot. Originally purchased as a weekend getaway, Beekman Farm is now a thriving business, producing organic soaps. textiles, and Beekman 1802 Blaak cheese. Continue reading
