Now that the 2010 World Cheese Championship Cheese Contest has come to an end, why not hop on a plane and fly 2000 miles to Oregon to celebrate!
The 6th Annual Oregon Cheese Festival is this Saturday, March 20th, at Rogue Creamery’s in Central Point, Oregon. Attendees have the opportunity to sample and purchase cheeses from Oregon and California cheese makers during the day-long festival.
Participants include Fraga Farm, Juniper Grove Farm, Pholia Farm, Tumalo Farms, Silver Falls Creamery, Siskiyou Crest Dairy, Tillamook County Creamery, Willamette Valley Cheese Co., Fern’s Edge Dairy, Rivers Edge Chevre, Ancient Heritage Dairy, Cypress Grove, Vella Cheese, Rogue Creamery, and many others.
The festival isn’t limited to just cheese. Culinary artisans of chocolate, wine and spirits, baked goods and dry goods will be participating as well.
Prior to the festivities on Saturday, a benefit dinner for the non-profit 501 (c) (6) Oregon Cheesemaker Guild will be held at the historic U.S. Hotel Ballroom at the Jacksonville Inn in Jacksonville Friday night, March 19th from 6:15 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. Each course will highlight a participating artisan’s cheese paired with a local wine while celebrated cheese expert Max McCalman acts as emcee for the evening.
The Oregon Cheese Festival will be open to the public Saturday, March 20th from 10a.m. to 5 p.m. at Rogue Creamery, 311 North Front St, Central Point, OR.
A $10 entry fee includes tastings and demonstrations. A $5 wine tasting fee includes a commemorative wine glass with the Oregon Cheese Guild logo.
