We here in America could learn a thing or two from our brothers and sisters across The Pond – at least when it comes to celebrating food. It’s National Dairy Week in Britain where the British Cheese Board strives to raise health benefit awareness toward dairy products, including cheese, yogurt, and good ol’ milk. As stated in a previous post, whole fat cheese can aid in weight loss efforts as well as providing needed calcium for bones.
Jim Begg, Dairy UK director is hoping this event will give British dairy farmers and producers the recognition they deserve:
“It’s been especially tough this winter with the widespread snow and ice, but that hasn’t stopped the nation getting its hands on the milk, cheese, yogurt and other dairy foods that we all take for granted.
“This helps support an industry worth more than £8bn per year and employing 80,000 people directly,” says Begg.
So, in honor of National Dairy Week, be sure to indulge in your favorite English cheese like Neal’s Yard Lincolnshire Poacher or England’s favorite Cheshire. Whatever your choice, it’s sure to be jolly good. Let me know which one you chose!
Happy Eating!
Every week is cheese week!
